Connecting Hips and Shoulders for A Great Toss

Natalie, Timothy, Mary, Jakob have been awesome Awareness Through Movement students and role models for adaptive athletes looking to up their game. We are psyching up for Spring Activities: Disc Golf, Hiking, Gardening, and Bocci. We have lessons for that!

In our first lesson back from a very brief "Mud Season" break, we started getting into the overall movements of tossing a 'disc,' rolling a bocce ball, reaching for a tomato, and generally loosening up the back.

The lesson goes back and forth between the hips and shoulders to loosen everything up. First, we cross legs to get the hips moving. Then reach arms out and to the side open up the shoulders. The grand finale is a deep twist of the body in one direction, with the head going the other way so the whole spine gets attention.

Mary and Natasha were all loosened up and ready to play with balls. Jakob took one BIG stretch - his back felt great!
