Head Turns the Body

This week answers the question: How do you keep facing downhill when your body is turning side to side?

One way is to practice turning your head instead of your body. And that is what we do in this session. With hands on the front and back of the head, turn the head and feel the relationship between turning the head, the shoulders and neck. Nail that line!

At the end of the session, Tim, as usual, was right on it - turning the head with the torso in place is the same as turning the torso and looking downhill. Jakob and Natasha were grinning, again, at the part of the lesson where we turn our heads while our knees rolling in and out. Apparently that is part of SnowBoard 101. Mary tuned into how hard it is to keep eyes on the horizon, and keeping shoulders moving through the turns can help.
