Soft Eyes, Wider Field of Vision

Eyes do more than take in the scenery. Eyes control the muscles of the neck and, therefore, most of the body. If you know where you want to go, let the eyes lead.

And as powerful as for looking in any one direction, peripheral vision is CRITICAL to be safe on the slopes and in the woods.

This week, the eyes have it. We twist this way and that with eyes looking downhill, side to side, even uphill: to feel the connection from eyes to body, plan lines, and expand peripheral vision.

Tim couldn't wait to share how valuable this lesson would be for expanding peripheral vision in the backcountry, where skiers are looking for the best route with the best snow. On the slopes, Mary found that when her eyes were softer she could relax more, especially when the mountain is crowded. Natasha and Jakob, our boarders, were tracking their lines down the hill with confidence that they would go where they looked.
